Mauritius e-learning 2010 How to create a new online B2B platform to attract travel agents and partners.

Brief

The objective for Mauritius was to improve its relationships with players in the travel trade: travel agents, tour operators, MICE. Interface Tourism decided to create a new Loyalty Programme concept which we called “The Mauritius Club”.

Tactics

Interface Tourism designed a new B2B website, ‘The Club Mauritius’, which we launched in September 2010 during the IFTM Tradeshow.

This website includes:

-          An “e-learning Certificate Programme” to train tourism professionals, with 4 levels of specialist knowledge.  Once the trade contact has registered, if he or she then replies to the questions correctly, they receive a “Dodo” certificate (4 levels).

-          For each connection, sponsorship, sale or event which is linked to Mauritius, the travel agent accumulates points. By launching an e-learning website, Interface Tourism wanted to award certificates which really guarantee specific levels of knowledge. The list of agencies which have obtained such certificates features on Mauritius’ B2C website.

-           A B2B marketing tool with all the necessary B2B sales aids (pictures, videos, online, themed brochures for downloading etc.), updated news from and about Mauritius and about trade partners based in Mauritius (hotels, airlines), all gathered together in one unique B2B website.

-           A B2B social media platform: a forum where trade contacts can express themselves and where they can ask the Tourist Board or other participants any questions they may have.

-           A Promotion Plan for the “Mauritius Club” with a budget of €30.000 for e-mailings, membership cards & kit, flyers, incentive competitions…

Result

6 months after the launch (February 2011):

-           1.700 travel agents have signed up to become “members” of the Mauritius Club

-           170 agents have been certified

-            25 partners (hotels, airlines) have created their own pages in the B2B platform
