TO ORGANIZE A MULTINATIONAL FAMTOUR AND WORKSHOP

Thanks to its wonderful nature and cultural assets, the island Madagascar in Indian Ocean will be one of most emerging destination of the next decade.
Key priority markets for the red island are France and Italy where the national carrier Air Madagascar offers direct flights. In order to push the number of visitors from those 2 source markets, priority was given by National Tourism Office to increase the number of TO featuring the destination, diversify their package offer and position Madagascar as the emerging destination of the year in trade opinion leaders mind.
Thanks to its huge territory, Madagascar main asset is its diversity of landscapes, tourism activities (eco-tourism, beach tourism, heritage, …). Main concern of the “Discover Madagascar 2005” program financed by World Bank was to impress key chosen trade stakeholders by the variety offered by the island and the professionalism of the inbound professional and institutions.

Interface Tourism elaborated this event selecting, convincing and escorting 30 French and Italian tour-operators and trade press journalists who were proposed to participate to 2 pre- and post- discovery trips chosen between 21 different thematic itineraries organized before and after a central day (November 23rd 2005) of conferences and workshop in Antananarivo.

In the morning, Prime Minister notably reassured the French invitees about the programs to be implemented by the Government for solving key global issues (transports, health, …). In the afternoon, 12 regional tourist offices and 30 Madagascar DMC were involved for a 4 hours working sessions with the French and Italian professionals.
This first ever global trade event organized in this destination allowed French & Italian TO to start, enlarge and diversify their Madagascar offer in brochure. The presence of trade journalists also enabled to get excellent press coverage to alert and train the trade community about the interest of the destination. The trade being trained, Madagascar is now ready to start an ambitious consumer promotion program (advertising + PR). Interface Tourism has been appointed to implement it from September 2006.
