As a part of the “Donors Conference in favour of Comoros” which took place 7th of December 2005 in Mauritius, the government contracted Interface Tourism in order to create the tourism strategy. The islands of Comoros is an archipelago which consists of 3 main islands being Ngazidja (Grande Comore), Mwali (Mohéli) and Nzuduani (Anjouan). The island group is located at the northern end of Mozambique channel – between Madagascar ans the eastern coast of Africa.
The tourism resources of the Comoros archipelago are based on nature ad local culture.
According to the Fomboni agreements of February, 17th 2001, the International Community had promised the Government to support the Comoros development once all the institutions was made operational on the basis of the Strategy Document to Reduce Poverty (DSRP). The study of the DSRP identified tourism as being the most promising sector proving the archipelago with a boosting effect on the economy.
The main objectives of this assignment were:
To create a development program for the tourism sector based on the actions described in the DSRP as being: environment, markets, marketing, infrastructures, …
To study the technical and financial feasibility for the implementation of the planned actions on 26 specified sites.
The final purpose is the adoption of an operational development plan for 2006-2009.

to present tourism situation in the Comoros archipelago through a complete inventory of its offer and demand as well as the structure of the sector. |

to carry out a competition research including positioning, strategy and tourism policy for 5 countries in the area in order to define a differentiated positioning of the Comoros archipelago and to avoid a regional competition. |

 After the implementation, the Government of Comoros appointed Interface Tourism to organize in Fall 2006 a fam trip and a workshop. |
