Born in 1971, as a son of hotel keepers of a ski resort in the French Alps, Philippe was born & grew up in an international tourism environment. After a A-Level degree in Maths & Sciences followed by a 2 years marketing diploma, Philippe gained a Master of Arts in Tourism Marketing in 1995 with highest Honours from ESTHUA (High School for Tourism of the Angers University) for a MA dissertation about the "New trends in communication of Foreign National Tourism Boards" published by the French Association of Foreign NTOs
(ADONET). |
After various training periods in Maison de la France (French NTO) in Francfort, various responsibilities for some cultural festivals and as tour leader in the States, UK & Germany, he then really started his career in 1996 as "Marketing & PR Officer - Europe" for the Auvergne Tourism Board (one of the 22 French regions) presided over by former French President Valery Giscard d'Estaing 5 years long, he covered 10 European markets, developed and managed a network of reps & partners. He then moved to Paris in 2001, worked on the new strategy of "Tourism For Development" French NGO and then join Interface Tourism in September 2002 where he rapidly enlarged his responsibilities in various consulting and marketing projects for destinations (Kenya, Comoros, Martinique island, Madagascar, ...) as well as management of the growing team.
Philippe was nominated General Manager of the company in 2006.
Philippe is one of the contributor of a reference book dedicated to "Tourism Marketing" printed in 2006 (DUNOD Publishing). He is also doing some lectures in various universities (Sorbonne, Celsa, Esthua, ...) on tourism marketing issues.
Main hobbies & interests (after travelling for sure) are jazz (poor keyboards player but great listener...), classical (was a choir Tenor singer in a past life), contemporary & World music, architecture and philosophy.
Philippe is in real love with the city of Paris but you may often find him during week-ends in the Auvergne (central & "Hidden" France) or in the French Alps (just dreaming on the Mont Blanc area or swimming in the lake of Geneva)
